Palm Springs– Our October 2020 Feature

Welcome to our October #CitySnapshot! On this month’s agenda, we are showcasing none other than beautiful Palm Springs, California.

If you are not familiar with this little gem, Palm Springs is located in a desert resort city in Southern California, just a short drive from both Los Angeles and San Diego (seriously, only 2-2:30 hours).

Within the last several years, the city has become a renowned meeting destination with amazing activities for your guests to indulge in. From world-class spas and shopping to the San Jacinto Mountains and Joshua Tree National Park, there is an activity for any type of event you are hosting!

We’ve had so much fun curating this list of our five favorite corporate event venues in Palm Springs, that we’ve even included a special non-hotel venue for you to take a peek at! Read on to learn more.

1. User Conference

Why we love it:

Conveniently located just six miles out from Palm Springs International Airport, the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa is nestled in picturesque Coachella Valley. Not only is this area beautiful, but it’s surrounded by attractions your guests will enjoy – shopping, dining, casinos, you name it!

Boasting a top-rated golf course, mountain views, and 360 acres of lush landscape, this place is absolutely perfect for your next User Conference. With over 75,000 sq. ft. of function space easily accommodate groups sizes 10 – 1000. Their extensive indoor and outdoor venues, high-tech capabilities, and destination services really make hosting events here a breeze (ahem… if event hosting could ever be a breeze).

We recommend enjoying a post-event cocktail on their stunning outdoor courtyards, hosting registration and networking in their Celebrity Foyer, and General sessions in their expansive Celebrity ballroom (capacity of over 1100 in banquet rounds). Their three ballrooms create total event flexibility and lead to outdoor pre-function spaces that are surrounded by mountains, wide-open skies, and Mediterranean architecture. If you ask us, it’s the perfect setting to inspire your guests.

For meals, opt for any of their numerous outdoor settings, like The Master’s Plaza or the Pete Dye Driving Range.

2. Sales Kickoff

JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa

Why we love it:

Located just a short drive from downtown Palm Springs, the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa is one of our favorite venues for Sales Kickoffs in the Palm Springs area! Your attendees will absolutely love the modern guestrooms and suites, waterfront restaurants, golf course, and Spa. And, we highly encourage you to check out their new restaurant Time & Temperature Innovation Kitchen (or T&T). There’s no set menu, only an ever-changing five-course meal crafted each night by their chefs – a 10/10 experience in our books! 🌟

This beautiful hotel offers more than 240,000 sq. ft. of innovative convention space – featuring 2 main ballrooms, 7 executive boardrooms, meeting planner offices, 3 spacious registration counters, expansive pre-function areas, and the JW Pavilion and Grove complex

We recommend planning creative breakout sessions or welcome cocktails on their lush lawn, hosting your registration and networking flow in their Sinatra Foyer (adjacent to the Sinatra Ballroom), and having cocktails on the Springs Ballroom terrace – it comes with amazing views of the mountain!

For meals, eat out on the Grove! It’s a stunning outdoor venue that overlooks the golf course and mountains.

3. Executive Summit

Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel

Why we love it:

In the heart of Palm Springs, tucked against the San Jacinto Mountains, the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel is just steps away from a vibrant dining and boutique shopping scene.. With the perfect combination of sleek architecture, rugged, desert-chic aesthetics and sophisticated, unfussy glamour, this place is great for any Executive Summit.

Enjoy their stunning sunsets and masterful cocktails out on their rooftop pool and bar, and dine at one of their two chef-driven restaurants featuring seasonal, shareable small plates made from fresh, local ingredients.

When it comes to event planning, we recommend their Sky Ballroom for General sessions. With 2,300 sq. ft. of fun, your attendees will experience how desert glamour permeates the mood indoors with their creative decor inspired by the natural terrain of the outdoors.

Host your networking events in the rooftop event room, Jacinto. Your attendees will love the fresh air while they mingle with other guests. The rooftop event room and terrace also offer the perfect backdrop of the desert and mountains!

4. Road Show

Why we love it:

Nestled in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, the historic Avalon Hotel & Bungalows Palm Springs rests at the foot of the rugged San Jacinto Mountains on four acres of beautifully manicured gardens.

The hotel boasts three pool areas, each a chic and intimate option for your cocktail hours (and completely customizable to your specific needs). The Presidio Ballroom & Courtyard offer a combined indoor and outdoor area.
The Presidio Ballroom is the perfect setting for any Road Show. It has 1664 sq. ft. of meeting space, with french doors that allow an abundance of natural light to shine in. There’s also complimentary WIFI and two drop-down screens for your convenience.
The Presidio Courtyard Entrance, on the other hand, is great for meals with its views of the dramatic mountain landscapes and imaginatively designed grounds. We also love how this spacious lawn leads directly into our Presidio Ballroom, allowing for a seamless transition between events.

For dinner parties, we recommend checking out the Estrella Spa Outdoor Cabanas. They can be transformed into quaint spaces for parties of up to 80 guests.

5. Incentive

Parker Palm Springs

Why we love it:

You can’t stay at the Parker Palm Springs hotel and not eat and drink well! This place is passionate about food and specialty cocktails just as much as we are. When guests want to unwind, pamper them with the Palm Springs Yacht Club. And, for outdoor adventures, suggest a cycling trip or mountain hike. This hotel is a top pick of ours for any Incentive!

This glamorous 1950s-era hotel underwent a beautiful transformation by interior designer Jonathan Adler in 2017, and is now filled with bold colors, metallic accents, luxe materials and eccentric design elements that give the place a retro vibe.

The hotel is perfect for business attendees looking to “relax, enjoy and inspire,” and there’s also lots of gorgeous indoor and outdoor event space for just about any meeting type.

We love that you can fully buy out this venue, which could be great for a company retreat. You can either buy out all 144 guest rooms, leaving the restaurants and Palm Springs Yacht Club open to outside guests or take over the entire estate (which would mean no outside guests allowed). The choice is yours!

Why we love it:

We couldn’t end our Palm Springs #CitySnapshot without mentioning the BMW Performance Center. It’s a dedicated performance driver training facility located in Thermal, California near Palm Springs. The facility offers special programs for private and corporate groups, with lessons taught by BMW professional driving instructors!

This is a great non-hotel venue if you’re looking to host a group event that bonds your team. The BMW Performance Center believes your team is at its best when all parts work as one. They showcase this with specific track exercises that engage your team while focusing on the task at hand – driving a BMW to its full potential, as hard as they can! Events are customizable, and they have a gourmet cafe, coffee bar, Wi-Fi, and large capacity conference rooms to utilize.

Talk about a fun, unique, team bonding sesh!
