Los Cabos, Mexico – Our June 2020 Feature

Los Cabos is our June 2020 feature! We love this city so much, we can’t even decide where to begin. Should we start with its picture-perfect landscapes? Or do we highlight the great attractions that make this city shine? Like a visit to El Arco, one of the region’s most iconic natural landmarks, or an evening stroll through Gallery District, with its charming cobblestoned streets filled with arts and crafts from around the world. Squeezed between the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortés, Los Cabos sure does have a lot of adventure. Whether your guests want to surf, scuba dive, snorkel, or head out into the desert, this destination has it all.

Before we get into all the reasons why this is one of our favorite places, perhaps we should start with why we love Los Cabos for event planners – after all, that’s our job! Not only does this city offer stunning 360 views of the ocean and desert, but many of the venues provide top-notch modern facilities to help you and your crew streamline your next event. Not to mention, the San Jose del Cabo International Airport is super accommodating.. Once landed, guests can easily find their way to the venue you’ve selected.

It’s also worth noting that there has been a surge of construction lately, leading to new luxury resorts, residential properties, restaurants, and unique meeting venues. So you might want to keep an eye out on this place for any new spots that pop up in the coming year.

As of right now though, these are our top 5 favorite venue selections for corporate gatherings spread across 5 different event types!

1. User Conference

Viceroy Hotel

Why we love it:

Nestled on the Sea of Cortés in Baja California, you’ll find this architecturally stunning concept by Miguel Angel Aragonés. It’s surrounded by miles of white sand beach and hosts an array of things to do on and off the property. Go scuba diving for exotic marine life, watch the sunset on an evening sail, bike the beach, golf, and so much more!

We love their luxurious full spa service and high-tech Fitness Center (designed by celebrity fitness guru Harley Pasternak).

We recommend hosting your Welcome Reception on the Cielomar Rooftop. It has amazing views of San Jose, the ocean, and mountains. It also has an impressive (and delicious) food and drink menu!

For General Sessions, opt for the Great Ballroom. With its modern architectural style and space, you’ll easily accommodate up to 734 attendees in a theater-like-manner. For meals, take a look at the North or South Beach outdoor venues. Both areas are large and face the ocean (both cover 6,800 sq. ft.).

And finally, if you’re looking for something a little more fun, rent out their Game Room or Movie theater!

2. Sales Kickoff

Why we love it:

Modern design, wonderful catering, and stellar meeting spaces make the Hilton the perfect venue for your next Sales Kickoffs in Los Cabos! Find private balconies and ocean views in every guest room, outdoor oceanfront pool terraces, world-class restaurant concepts, and the only swimmable beach with a venue.

We recommend the El Dorado Ballroom for General Sessions. It has a number of breakout rooms for intimate gatherings, yet is flexible enough to transform into a vibrant party spot – with linens, lighting arrangements, the works!

Enjoy your meals at the Dolphin pool overlooking the beautiful Sea of Cortés.

3. Executive Summit

Nobu Los Cabos

Why we love it:

Did you know this beautiful gem was designed and developed by three celebrities? Chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, Academy Award-winner, Robert De Niro, and Hollywood producer, Meir Tepe, joined forces to design this Japanese-inspired work of art. With its minimal feel and locally-sourced materials, Nobu is sophisticated and luxurious.

We recommend hosting some of your gatherings in The Tsuki, Nobu’s pre-conference area next to the ballroom. It overlooks the Pacific ocean and world-class golf course (designed by Davis Love III and Tiger Woods). For General Sessions and breakouts, opt for the Tsuki Ballroom.

For an outdoor event, consider their 2 large lawn areas. They’re perfect for meals or cocktail hours, and the beach area looking out at the Pacific Ocean is ideal for team-building activities.

Fun fact: All guest rooms include welcome tea, walk-in showers, and rosemary and white tea bath products that are exclusively crafted for the hotel!

4. Road Show

Hyatt Cape Resort

Nearest airport: Los Cabos International Airport, SJD (About a 40 minute drive).

Why we love it:

Found near the southernmost part of the Baja California Sur Peninsula, The Cape resort from Hyatt Hotels is a dream! Every spot on the property overlooks the El Arco landmark and Bahia Cabo San Lucas horizon.

Thoughtfully designed by Mexico City architect, Javier Sanchez, the rooms come with a private balcony, hanging daybed, and freestanding copper tubs. What more can you ask for?

We recommend the A-Frame meeting room for General Sessions. At just over 1,600 sq. ft., this venue fits 130 guests (banquet style) and can even be broken down into 2 smaller sections for a more intimate setting. We absolutely love the sophistication of this space, with its clean lines and warm woods.

For group happy hours, The Rooftop Lounge is perfect. Your guests will love the views of the setting sun and city skyline as they mingle.

5. Incentive

Rosewood Las Ventanas

Why we love it:

Built in 1997, this beautiful desert beach hideaway continues to stun guests with its expansive suites, inspired cuisine, and relaxing spa. But, with other amenities like golf, tennis, beach, desert excursions, and more, it’s no wonder this venue was first on our list for an Incentive!

For meetings, we recommend the Las Ventanas’ Conference Room. It’s a flexible space and opens onto an outdoor terrace with ocean views.

For outdoor events, check out La Plaza, located at the highest point of the resort. And finally, when it comes to your Cocktail reception or private dinner parties, try any of their acclaimed restaurants, the beach under a thatched palapa, or La Cava (a 3,000-bottle wine room) – there are so many great options to choose from!

Fun Fact: Las Ventanas avoids non-native tropical foliage, planting only indigenous plants that are appropriate to the local climate, like cactus, succulents and other desert plants. You’ll see these all over the resort.
